Today, reporters learned that during the "May Day" holiday, the State Administration for Market Regulation organized market supervision departments nationwide to carry out the "Enjoying May Day, Checking Together" activity with the theme of food safety, listening extensively to public opinion and conducting targeted inspections. During the activity, various regions collected consumer demand through online and offline channels, attracting 142,000 participants and collecting a total of 3.059 million pieces of information related to food inspections. According to statistics, the top five food categories of consumer concern are vegetables, fruits, meat, catering food, and beverages. Around these food categories of concern to the public, market supervision departments across the country quickly carried out inspection work, inspecting a total of 13,659 batches of various foods, discovering 290 batches of unqualified samples, with an unqualified rate of 2.12%. In response to the unqualified foods found during inspections, market supervision departments in various regions promptly took measures such as taking products off the shelves, recalls, and case investigations in accordance with the law and regulations, quickly preventing and resolving food safety risks, strengthening the holiday food safety defense line, and effectively safeguarding the "safety on the tip of the tongue" of the general consumers.
