The American Teachers' Union calls for a "special review" of the SpaceX IPO to protect the retirement rights of workers and investor rights.
On May 6th local time, the American Federation of Teachers, one of the largest public unions in the United States, called on the Securities and Exchange Commission to conduct a special review of SpaceX's upcoming initial public offering to protect the retirement security of the union's 1.8 million members in the education, healthcare, and public sectors - whose pension and investments are closely tied to the public stock market. In the letter, the union expressed serious concerns about the risks associated with SpaceX's IPO, citing the unprecedented scale of the company, opaque financial operations, and warning signs of corporate governance issues, which could potentially cause asymmetrical harm to retail investors, including members of the union.
