Sun Dong: Hong Kong's support for the development of innovative technology is beginning to show results, with the number of start-up companies increasing by 3700 in the past ten years.
According to the Securities Times APP, on May 6, Professor Alfred Sun, Secretary for Innovation and Technology of Hong Kong, replied to legislators' questions, stating that after several years of hard work, the measures to support innovation and technology in Hong Kong initiated by the SAR government are beginning to show results, and the innovation and technology ecosystem in Hong Kong is becoming increasingly vibrant. The number of startups has increased from over 1,500 in 2015 to over 5,200 in 2025; Hong Kong Science Park and Cyberport, the two flagship innovation and technology centers, have nurtured and supported approximately 20 unicorn companies.
