Finance ministers from EU countries have stated that if U.S. President Donald Trump follows through on his threat to raise tariffs on European cars to 25%, Europe will consider all countermeasures. However, if possible, the EU hopes to maintain the existing trade agreement with the U.S. "Our path is clear, we do not want the situation to escalate, we want to find a common solution with the U.S.," said German Deputy Chancellor and Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil. However, he added, "If the situation escalates, we will be prepared."
