TSMC may restart the construction plan for the Longtan wafer fab or invest up to 19 billion US dollars.

According to anonymous industry sources, after a hiatus of two and a half years, TSMC may resume its plans for a wafer fab in Longtan, expected to introduce next-generation EUV processes. The sources suggest that if this plan is resumed, it is expected to attract investments of 500 to 600 billion New Taiwan Dollars. TSMC abandoned the plan in October 2023 due to strong local opposition and shifted its focus on advanced manufacturing to Kaohsiung and Tainan.
