Mexico captures "backup" drug lord ahead of World Cup, security situation being monitored.
Mexican authorities announced on April 27 that they had captured two main leaders of a drug trafficking group, one of whom could potentially become the new leader of the "Jalisco New Generation" drug trafficking group. The former leader of the group, Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, was killed in a military anti-drug operation in February of this year. Mexican Secretary of Security Alfonso Durazo confirmed on social media that the Navy Special Forces captured Audias Flores Silva in the state of Nayarit. He was considered to be Oseguera's right-hand man and a potential successor.
