Takamichi prepared for a long-term war, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Does Japan want to repeat history?
On April 28, spokesperson Lin Jian presided over the regular press conference at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A reporter asked about reports that on April 27, the Japanese government held its first expert meeting to revise the "Security Three Documents" in order to enhance capabilities for long-term war preparedness and to address new forms of warfare, citing the situations in Russia, Ukraine, the Middle East, and emphasizing maritime security, cybersecurity, and economic security. What is China's comment on this?
Lin Jian pointed out that the current Japanese government has been vigorously developing its military industry, and now openly declares readiness for long-term war. In history, Japan instigated war and aggression against other countries, and now it is creating a so-called "tense situation". Is Japan intending to repeat its historical mistakes and advance rapidly on the path of "remilitarization", once again becoming a source of trouble in East Asia?
During the era of Japanese militarism, Japan committed heinous crimes of aggression and expansion against China and neighboring Asian countries, causing great suffering to the people there. It is precisely because of Japan's history of aggression that, in order to prevent the revival of Japanese militarism, a series of internationally legally binding documents such as the Cairo Declaration, the Potsdam Proclamation, and Japan's Instrument of Surrender clearly stipulate that Japan should completely disarm and not maintain industries that can rearm it. Japan's constitution also imposes strict limitations on its military strength, combat rights, and war rights.
Lin Jian pointed out that, from "strict self-defense" to "long-term war", Japan's recent dangerous actions and provocations in the field of military security have exposed the false self-promotion of being a "peaceful country". Many informed individuals have expressed that recent statements by Japanese officials are more like war mobilization and war drums, reminiscent of the actions of Japanese militarists in the past.
Lin Jian emphasized that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the Tokyo Trials, and in such a special year, instead of deeply reflecting on its history of aggression, Japan is attempting military expansion, which the international community will never accept. It serves as a reminder that all peace-loving countries in the world must remain vigilant and resolutely curb the dangerous actions of Japan's new militarism.
