According to the Shanghai Railway Station, the transportation period of the 2026 May Day holiday on the railway will start from April 29th and end on May 6th. During this period, the station will mainly see tourist and family visit flows, presenting the characteristics of "early peak, increased total volume, diverse demand, and concentrated return trips". According to passenger flow prediction data, during the 8-day transportation period of this year's May Day holiday, Shanghai Railway Station is expected to send 4.83 million passengers, with an average daily sending of over 600,000 passengers, an increase of 5.42% compared to last year. The peak travel period is expected to be from April 30th to May 3rd, with daily passenger senders exceeding 600,000, and the highest peak is expected to appear on May 1st, sending 800,000 passengers. May 4th to 5th will see a peak in return trips, with over 700,000 passengers arriving at the station.
