Huawei invites more than ten automobile companies to its L3 platform. Huawei executives say that for security reasons, they still need to do L3.
Recently, the debate on whether the development of autonomous driving has skipped over Level 3 has ignited discussion. On the evening of April 23, the annual Huawei Qingkun Technology Conference arrived as scheduled, and unlike before, Huawei Qingkun invited more than ten car companies such as SAIC, AVITA, and Moxi to jointly emphasize the leap from Level 2 to Level 3 as a multidimensional and systematic engineering process, with Level 3 being a necessary stage in the transition to fully autonomous driving. Previously, during the Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development Forum, Jin Yuzhi, CEO of Huawei's Intelligent Car Solutions BU, clearly stated his view that Level 3 is an essential stage that cannot be skipped in the journey towards fully autonomous driving, sparking widespread discussion in the industry. Huawei's Intelligent Car Solutions BU Vice President Chi Linchun, during Moxi's spring renewal press conference, stated in an interview with the media, "Some voices suggest skipping directly from Level 2 to Level 4, but Huawei still insists on Level 3. On one hand, we want to advance high-level intelligent driving without falling behind the United States; on the other hand, although the time required to pass through Level 3 before expanding to Level 4 may be longer, for safety considerations, we still need to do Level 3."
