According to The Washington Post, U.S. government officials said on Thursday that the United States intends to invite Putin to attend the G20 Leaders Summit planned for December at the Trump National Doral Golf Resort in Miami, but the invitation has not yet been sent out. The U.S. State Department said in a statement that Trump "has made it clear that the United States is focused on hosting a successful and productive summit, welcoming Russia to participate in all G20 meetings." A senior U.S. government official, when briefing the media on the situation, said, "A formal invitation has not yet been sent out, but Russia is a member of the G20 and will be invited to attend ministerial meetings and the leaders' summit."
