China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited Xinjiang Branch was officially established in Urumqi, optimizing the market structure of civil aviation in Xinjiang and forming a benign development pattern of "Three Major Airlines" gathering together, coordination between trunk and branch routes, and orderly competition. Since setting up its Urumqi branch in 1994, China Eastern Airlines has developed a route network covering 13 destinations in Xinjiang including Urumqi, Yining, Kashgar, and Korla, connecting to domestic core hubs such as Shanghai, Xi'an, and Kunming. According to the memorandum of cooperation, China Eastern Airlines will focus on building the "Urumqi-Shanghai" air express route, establish operating bases in Yining and branches in Kashgar as appropriate, and actively explore the opening of international routes from Xinjiang to Central and Western Asia. China Eastern Airlines indicated that in the future, they will leverage the advantages of 823 passenger aircraft and 19 cargo aircraft, strengthen the linkage between passenger and cargo transportation, deepen the integration of air travel, and promote characteristic products such as "aviation + ice and snow tourism" and "aviation + Silk Road culture" to support the high-quality development of Xinjiang's economy and society.
