Currently in the spring forest grassland fire prevention period. At the quarterly routine press conference held by the Ministry of Emergency Management today, officials briefed on the national forest and grassland fire prevention situation and fire prevention measures during the "May Day" holiday this year. It is expected that in the later stages of spring, some areas in southern and southwestern China will experience high temperatures, little rain and a trend towards meteorological drought maintenance and development, with high fire danger levels in some areas. In northern and northeastern China, most vegetation has not yet turned green, and with rising temperatures, melting snow, and increased use of fire, fire prevention will be a focus. During the "May Day" holiday this year, northern, northeastern, southern, southwestern, and northwestern China will continue to face unfavorable weather factors such as high temperatures, little rain, and strong winds, with combustible materials in a highly flammable state. Additionally, there will be a significant increase in outdoor activities such as hiking and tourism during the holiday period, increasing the risk of violations such as smoking and open fires, leading to a potentially pessimistic fire situation. In addition, there will continue to be significant pressure on fire prevention and control in border areas in northeastern, southwestern, and northwestern China. The National Forestry and Grassland Fire Prevention Office and the Ministry of Emergency Management will strengthen the control of ignition sources, dispatch working groups composed of the Ministry of Emergency Management, the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, and the National Fire and Rescue Bureau to conduct secret investigations and inspections in key provinces, in order to promote the thorough elimination of major hidden dangers of forest and grassland fires, crack down on illegal use of fire, and carry out a three-year campaign to ensure the safety of forests and electricity, and to completely eliminate fire hazards.
