On April 22, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a routine press conference. A reporter asked about the mainland's ten policy measures to promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation. The chairman of the Taiwan Affairs Office, Qiu Chuizheng, said, "All ten policy measures involve national security and the exercise of government authority, and must be formally negotiated by both sides of the government before appropriate arrangements can be made." What is your comment on this? The spokesperson of the Taiwan Affairs Office responded: Since the release of the ten policy measures to promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation, they have been welcomed by various sectors in Taiwan. Everyone has expressed eager anticipation for the implementation of these measures, believing that they are important measures to revitalize Taiwan's related industries and inject vitality into the economy. In the face of the people's eager expectations, the DPP authorities only smear and discourage, creating obstacles. This self-serving practice, which disregards the livelihood of the people for the benefit of one party, has been widely criticized and opposed by the people and the industry in Taiwan. We advise the DPP authorities to respond to the will of the people in Taiwan and the calls from the industry, and to do more to promote cross-strait exchanges and cooperation. As long as the "1992 Consensus" is adhered to and "Taiwan independence" is opposed, we are willing to work together with all political parties, groups, and individuals in Taiwan to seek peace across the strait, seek the well-being of compatriots, and seek national rejuvenation.
