State Council Taiwan Affairs Office refutes Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council's fallacies: The Democratic Progressive Party authority is a poison harming Taiwan and its people.
On April 22, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office held a routine press conference. Spokesperson Zhang Han answered questions, stating that the DPP authorities, out of their "Taiwan independence" nature, shamelessly peddle the "two countries theory", have no intention to seek peace in the Taiwan Strait, lack the ability to handle cross-strait relations, repeatedly deliberately undermine cross-strait relations, escalate tensions in the Taiwan Strait, and are the ones who harm Taiwan and its people. Peace is not difficult, and prosperity for Taiwan is not difficult either, as long as we adhere to the "1992 Consensus" and oppose "Taiwan independence", cross-strait relations can develop peacefully, the Taiwan Strait can be peaceful and stable, and compatriots on both sides of the strait can have a good life.
A reporter asked: Regarding the visit to the mainland by the leader of the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) Zheng Liwen, the head of Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council, Qiu Chui-zheng, said, "Zheng Liwen regards the '1992 Consensus' as a prerequisite for cross-strait dialogue, helping the mainland to eradicate the 'Republic of China', this is a poison of annexation, not a cure for peace". What is your comment on this? Zhang Han responded to the question with the above statement.
