Concerns over potential cyber attacks triggered by the new AI model Anthropic have raised close attention from Japan and Australia.
According to informed sources, Japanese Finance Minister Koizumi Katsugetsu plans to meet with major domestic banks and other financial institutions as early as this week to discuss Anthropic's new AI model Mythos. The company previously claimed that this model is powerful enough to launch complex cyber attacks. Sources say Koizumi will hold discussions with large Japanese financial institutions such as Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, and Mizuho Financial Group. Due to the discussion of confidential information, the sources have requested anonymity. The Japanese Finance Ministry refused to comment on the planned meetings. Meanwhile, the Reserve Bank of Australia is closely monitoring developments related to the AI model Mythos, stating in a statement that they are "communicating with other regulatory agencies, government departments, and regulated entities." The statement also notes that "the Reserve Bank of Australia will continue to assess the impact of these technological advancements with other regulatory and government agencies to ensure the ongoing safety and resilience of the financial system."
