Paul Atkins, Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), delivered a keynote speech at the Washington Economic Club, stating that in his first year in office, he has pushed for the SEC to return to its core mission of "protecting investors, maintaining market integrity, and promoting capital formation." He criticized the excessive expansion of regulations in the past, which he said has increased market friction and uncertainty. Atkins also added that the SEC is speeding up efforts to establish a clear regulatory framework for digital assets and is collaborating with other regulatory agencies and Congress to advance the "A-C-T" strategy, which includes modernizing regulations (Advance), clarifying regulatory boundaries (Clarify), and reshaping the rule system based on fundamental principles (Transform) to enhance the competitiveness of the U.S. market and strengthen its position as a global investment and business environment.
