The National Assembly election results announced by the Central Election Commission of Bulgaria on the 20th showed that the "Progress Bulgaria" alliance led by former President Rumen Radev won 44.59% of the votes, significantly ahead. According to relevant regulations, the Central Election Commission of Bulgaria should announce the official election results including seat allocation by the 23rd of this month. According to the constitution, the President will mandate the largest party in parliament to form the government. This is the eighth parliamentary election in Bulgaria in five years. On December 11th last year, the government led by Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced its resignation. Prior to this, the economic policies implemented by the Borisov government were criticized by the public and sparked protests for several weeks. After three failed attempts to form a coalition government, Bulgaria announced on January 16th of this year that it would hold early parliamentary elections.
