BASF's Boliwei: Growth in the plastics industry is increasingly coming from high value-added downstream sectors.

On April 20th, at the CHINAPLAS 2026 International Plastics and Rubber Exhibition Media Day, Ba Leiwei, Senior Vice President of the Specialty Materials Division of BASF Asia Pacific, stated that innovation is increasingly being driven by application scenarios, and the growth of the plastics industry is increasingly coming from high value-added downstream areas. He pointed out that this shift is already reflected in new energy vehicles and related technologies, power electronics, energy storage, and other fields.
