Pakistan's Rawalpindi strengthens security, uncertainty still exists in US-Iran negotiations.
The government of Rawalpindi, a city near Islamabad, Pakistan, announced on the 19th that public transportation and cargo transportation in the city has been completely suspended, but private vehicles are still allowed to pass. Local media reported that Rawalpindi has deployed 10,000 police officers and set up more than 600 checkpoints, with local commercial activities also being asked to scale back. Several police officers confirmed that they were still stationed elsewhere last night and only arrived in Rawalpindi today after receiving orders. Two thousand police officers were deployed in just one commercial district. It is also not difficult to see that Pakistan is carrying out strict control and social management work in preparation for a possible new round of US-Iran negotiations.
