The United States has approved the sale of $11.9 billion in military systems to Germany.
The US State Department said on the 17th that the US government has approved a potential deal to sell a $11.9 billion naval integrated military system and related equipment to Germany. The statement said, "The US State Department has decided to approve a potential deal to sell a set of integrated combat systems, auxiliary equipment, and support services to the German government. The total value is expected to be $11.9 billion." This potential deal includes: 8 sets of MK 6 MOD X integrated combat systems shipboard computing infrastructure based on the "Aegis" system, an equal number of AN/SPY-6 shipborne radar stations, MK 41 Baseline VIII universal vertical launchers, as well as shipborne cooperative combat systems and other equipment. The statement added, "The proposed arms sale will enhance Germany's national and territorial defense capabilities, strengthen its operational coordination with US and NATO forces, thereby enhancing the ability of the German Navy to counter current and future threats."
