The scope of use of the housing provident fund will be further expanded.
As of now, more than 20 cities in provinces such as Jiangsu, Hebei, Liaoning, Anhui, and Jiangxi have introduced relevant policies to break the old restriction of using housing provident fund only for home purchases and repayments. Specifically, although the policies in different regions have differences, they are very practical: cities like Suzhou and Taizhou allow withdrawals based on actual property expenses, with an annual cap of 10,000 yuan, while cities like Changchun, Bengbu, and Hangzhou have set annual limits ranging from 3,000 yuan to 10,000 yuan. This wave of policy benefits directly and tangibly benefits everyone with housing needs. First, it directly reduces the daily burden on families. Using the housing provident fund to offset property fees means less cash outlay, especially for young people and new urban residents, it is like an additional "hidden subsidy". Secondly, it helps to activate more than 10 trillion yuan of accumulated housing provident fund, making the "dormant" money come alive. In fact, the ability to use the housing provident fund to pay property fees is just a microcosm of policy adjustments this year, with a clearer reform logic behind it: the housing provident fund is transitioning from a single "buying tool" to a "comprehensive social welfare account" covering the entire housing lifecycle.
