FINA 2025 out-of-competition drug testing proportion increased

The World Swimming Association recently announced that, in cooperation with international testing agencies, it will continue to enhance the anti-doping testing system by 2025. It specifically emphasized the need to strengthen out-of-competition doping testing. The announcement stated that the International Testing Agency (ITA) conducted a total of 5,345 samples from 1,786 athletes throughout the year, with 4,073 samples taken out-of-competition and 1,272 samples taken in-competition. The emphasis on out-of-competition testing is because doping violations are most likely to occur during training periods away from competition supervision.
