Stanford University's latest "2026 Artificial Intelligence Index Report" pointed out that the current gap between top large models in China and the United States has been "substantially eliminated," with comparable performance among leading models, showing a trend of running side by side. The report shows that among the top 20 AI institutions, 11 Chinese companies rank ahead of the United States. Alibaba ranked third in the 2025 global top model contribution list, and also the Chinese technology company with the most important models selected. In the Arena rankings, six companies including the US companies Anthropic, xAI, Google, OpenAI, and Chinese companies Alibaba and DeepSeek jointly form the top echelon, competing intensely with each other, and the competition focus is gradually shifting from performance comparison to cost, reliability, and real-world practicality.
