Taking actions to offset the continuously rising costs, Pepsi might increase prices.
According to the Financial Times, PepsiCo has warned that a war in Iran could push up the cost of its food and beverage products. Just a few months ago, the company launched a promotion by lowering prices to attract consumers tired of inflation. The report pointed out that PepsiCo reported on the 16th of the month that its salty snack business rebounded in the last quarter, with stronger sales of brands such as Doritos and Lay's, thanks to price cuts and the introduction of products with more natural ingredients. However, CFO Steve Schmidt said in a conference call with analysts, "Our assumption is that inflation will come." Schmidt added that PepsiCo is likely to need to take measures to offset rising costs. He listed three measures: fully utilizing its vast supply chain infrastructure, improving productivity, and adjusting its "price-pack architecture" - which usually means raising average prices during inflationary periods.
