Myanmar announces more than 4,500 prisoners granted amnesty for Burmese New Year.

On the first day of the Burmese New Year on the 17th, the Presidential Palace of Myanmar issued multiple pardons, announcing the release of over 4,500 prisoners. According to the pardons, the President announced a reduction in sentences for prisoners serving in all prisons in Myanmar, granting reduction in sentences and release to 4,335 Burmese prisoners, and granting pardons to 179 foreign detainees and deporting them.
