Due to the rising cost of memory chips, Meta Platforms has increased the prices of its virtual reality headsets, joining the recent trend of price increases in the consumer electronics industry. Meta announced that the entry-level Quest 3S headset will see a price increase of $50, while the high-end Quest 3 model will see a price increase of $100. After the adjustment, the 128GB version of Quest 3S will be priced at $350, the 256GB version at $450, and the latest price of Quest 3 will be $600. Like other tech companies, Meta is also facing rising memory costs and supply chain shortages due to the AI boom. Apple and Microsoft have both raised prices on some laptops, and Samsung has also increased the prices of some phones. Meanwhile, other headset manufacturers are also raising prices or delaying product launches.
