Federal Reserve Governor Williams said on Thursday that the uncertainty about the economic outlook limits the Fed officials' ability to make statements about the future of interest rate policies. Williams said, "Given the many uncertainties in the current economic situation, as well as the impacts of the Middle East conflict, now is not the time to give clear guidance. If the inflation rate falls to 2%, I think lowering interest rates would be an appropriate measure, but we are not at that stage yet."
