Douyin revealed the results of handling rumors related to Hangzhou Lingyin Temple.
On April 16th, Douyin announced that recently, the platform has discovered users spreading rumors outside the platform, fabricating false information and engaging in conspiracy theories about the Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou. The platform has actively debunked these rumors by identifying the points of the rumors and continues to handle violations and accounts involved:
1. Rumors such as "Monks at Lingyin Temple are Japanese/spies", "Military radio transmitters found at Lingyin Temple", "Military forces stationed in the temple/famous mountain" have been included in the rumor database and dealt with by taking down and intercepting new posts, resulting in the removal of over 1200 pieces of violating content. Accounts that repeatedly spread rumors from outside the platform have been banned.
2. A review of comments on videos related to Lingyin Temple has resulted in the removal of 187,000 violating comments, and an interception strategy has been implemented.
3. In response to related rumors and baseless rumors, the platform has introduced a "truth-seeking card" to promote the spread of debunking information. Users can search for keywords to access debunking information.
