As the situation in the Hormuz Strait becomes increasingly tense and reserves of oil and fertilizers continue to diminish, Thailand is stepping up efforts to secure new supplies of oil and fertilizers. Meanwhile, Agriculture Minister Suria Chonglengchinkit has requested Russia to supply 1 to 2 million tons of urea fertilizer annually at a "preferential price". Companies such as FosAgro and UralChem have expressed interest in signing long-term contracts.
