The White House calls on oil giants to increase oil production.

According to three individuals familiar with the call, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum will urge CEOs of major oil and gas companies to increase drilling operations in order to lower oil prices during a call on Thursday. Two of the sources said that the White House has invited the CEOs of ExxonMobil, Chevron, Occidental Petroleum, Continental Resources, and other major oil companies to participate in the call on Thursday. Due to not being authorized to speak to the media, the two sources requested anonymity. Company representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The White House and the Department of Energy also did not immediately respond, while the Interior Department refused to disclose specific details.
