On the 15th, the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of Treasury announced new sanctions on the Iranian oil transportation infrastructure sector, targeting more than 20 entities, individuals, and vessels. The announcement stated that the new sanctions primarily focus on the oil transportation network related to Mohammad Hossein Shamkhani, the son of the late Secretary of the Iranian National Security Council Ali Shamkhani. In addition to Iran, the sanctioned entities also involve the United Arab Emirates, the Marshall Islands, India, etc. The announcement mentioned that the new sanctions target Iranian oil sales and "proxies" of Iran in the Middle East region, such as Hezbollah in Lebanon, as part of the Trump administration's maximum pressure campaign on Iran and its regional "proxies."
