Swiss watch sales dropped significantly as Middle East conflicts spread to Swiss watchmakers.
The spillover effects of the US-Iran conflict have spread to the Swiss watch industry. On the 14th local time, the annual "Watches and Wonders" high-end watch exhibition opened in Geneva, Switzerland, and will continue until the 20th of this month. Industry insiders interviewed during the exhibition stated that the Middle East is one of the main export markets for Swiss watches, accounting for approximately one-tenth of the total Swiss watch exports, but the US-Iran conflict has led to a significant impact on the market in that region, affecting watch sales. Taking the UAE as an example, international tourists are the main consumer group of Swiss brand watches, but the current conflict has led to a sharp drop in the number of international tourists, resulting in a significant decline in sales at Dubai International Airport duty-free shops and retail stores in tourist attractions. Analysts point out that the Swiss watch industry has already been impacted by soaring precious metal prices and US tariffs, and this round of Middle East conflicts is further worsening its prospects.
