The Cyberspace Administration of China has issued a notice on strengthening the regulation and management of live streaming tipping on the internet. It proposes that website platforms provide users with recharging and tipping services, create ranking lists, design interactive gameplay, and should establish clear rules that are publicly available in a direct and concise manner, without using multiple redirects or lengthy terms to confuse users. When applying for the profit-making permission for live streaming accounts, if there are any violations, the permission should be granted after a 3-month cooling-off period. If a live streaming account is silenced, its profit-making permission should be temporarily suspended for a duration of 2 to 3 times the duration of the silencing. Without user consent, website platforms are not allowed to publicly display users' tipping and gift purchase consumption statistics. Ranking, traffic, or recommendations for live streamers should not be solely based on tipping amounts, and users should not be ranked based on their tipping amounts.
