It is another technological path for the application of green energy in the heavy transportation sector. The energy density of methanol is equivalent to ten times that of lithium-ion batteries, and the self-weight of a lithium battery vehicle is equivalent to twice that of a methanol electric vehicle, which raises energy consumption issues. Methanol electric vehicles have certain potential for development and research. Li Shufu believes that the development of green energy such as wind, solar, hydrogen, and ammonia in China is a very down-to-earth scientific and technological route for application in the transportation sector.
