U.S. media: OpenAI founder Altman's residence attacked with Molotov cocktail.
According to reports from Fox News and NBC News, a spokesperson for OpenAI confirmed that a suspect was arrested earlier on Friday by the San Francisco police. The suspect was accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at the residence of OpenAI founder and CEO Sam Altman, and also making threats outside the headquarters of the artificial intelligence giant in San Francisco. OpenAI stated, "Fortunately, no one was injured." The company added, "We are very grateful for the quick response of the San Francisco police and for the support provided by the city government in ensuring the safety of our employees. The suspect has been arrested, and we are assisting the police in their investigation." Altman has not yet made a public statement about the arrest. In another statement, the San Francisco Police Department said that they responded to a residence in the North Beach area of San Francisco earlier on Friday, "for a fire investigation." The suspect fled on foot, and a description of the suspect has been broadcast to all officers. Subsequently, the San Francisco police received a call and rushed to a business at 1400 3rd Street, where they dealt with an incident where "an unidentified man threatened to burn down the building." The police stated, "When officers arrived at the scene, they recognized the man as the same suspect from the previous incident and immediately arrested him." The suspect is reported to be a 20-year-old man.
