After data showed that inflation in the United States increased in March, UK government bond yields rose slightly, reducing the prospect of the Federal Reserve cutting interest rates in the coming months. Driven by high energy prices following the Middle East war, the overall inflation rate in the United States in March increased from 2.4% in February to 3.3%. Richard Carter of Quilter Cheviot stated in a report that given the rise in inflation in March and the uncertainty surrounding the overall impact of the Middle East war, the Federal Reserve may raise interest rates in the coming months. Tradeweb's data showed that the yield on 10-year UK government bonds rose by 2.1 basis points on the day to 4.825%, higher than the 4.809% before the data was released.
