"Mihoyo cracks down on illegal activities, 10 suspects arrested, involving over 2 million yuan."
According to the official account of "miHoYo Legal Department", miHoYo discovered in daily monitoring that the e-commerce stores "Qingmu Fish Game Store" and "Shark Online Game Store" were engaged in illegal renting and selling of game accounts, involving multiple games such as "Genshin Impact", "Honkai Impact 3rd: The Grid", and "Punishing: Gray Raven". After gathering evidence, miHoYo immediately reported to the Xuhui police in Shanghai. Following the police investigation, it was found that the mentioned stores were actually part of a criminal group engaged in illegal renting and selling of game accounts, which illegally obtained personal information of over 10,000 citizens through illegal channels, used this information to register game accounts in batches, and then used cheating software to level up these accounts before selling them on e-commerce platforms for illegal profit, amounting to over 2 million RMB. Once these accounts, registered with adult identity information, were sold or rented to minors, they were highly likely to bypass the game addiction prevention system, allowing some minors to exceed time and spending limits, seriously disrupting the company's implementation of real-name registration management. In January 2026, the Xuhui police carried out a crackdown operation in Jilin and Fujian, arresting 10 suspects including Zhang, Liang, and Fang, and fully dismantling the criminal group engaged in illegal renting and selling of game accounts. Currently, 4 suspects including Zhang and Fang have been lawfully arrested by the procuratorial authorities on charges of illegally obtaining computer information system data and infringing on citizens' personal information, while Liang, Guo, and the other 6 have been taken into custody by the public security authorities and the case is under further investigation.
