National railways to implement new freight train schedule starting today.

According to China Railway Group, the demand for railway freight transportation in the country has been strong and the volume has been steadily increasing this year. Starting at 18:00 today, a new freight train operation plan will be implemented nationwide to further improve the railway logistics system and reduce logistics costs. After the adjustment, intercity and multimodal transport trains will see significant speed increases. In the second quarter, 8 high-speed intercity trains with a maximum speed of 160 kilometers per hour will be operated, along with 53 fast intercity trains with a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour and 87 regular intercity trains with a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour. At the same time, 81 fast multimodal transport trains with a maximum speed of 120 kilometers per hour and 121 regular multimodal transport trains with a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour will be operated, continuing to run express logistics demonstration trains between major economic regions such as Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta, Greater Bay Area of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao, and Chengdu-Chongqing.
