Our country's scientists have successfully cracked the difficult problem of breeding high-yielding and disease-resistant rice, adding a solid guarantee for high and stable yields.

In response to this prominent issue in rice production, Academician He Zuhua's team from the Molecular Plant Science Excellence Innovation Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with teams from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Zhejiang University, Shanghai Normal University, and others, successfully cloned the broad-spectrum disease-resistant gene Xa48. They also elucidated the regular change in rice's disease resistance ability during long-term cultivation, providing core technological support for cultivating high-resistance and high-yield rice. This achievement was published in the international academic journal "Nature" on April 8th.
