OpenAI engineer Dominik Kunde has been quietly developing an open-source autonomous superintelligence framework called Prometheus. The project features characteristics such as recursive self-improvement, alignment enforcement modifications, and real-time self-benchmarking, making it an AI agent capable of rewriting its own code and autonomously measuring its progress towards general superintelligence. Kunde, who serves as the developer experience lead at OpenAI, appears to be developing this project as a personal independent endeavor. The code repository has officially gone live this week.
