The Indonesian government announced on the 6th an increase of 28 percentage points in the aviation fuel surcharge rate and allowed airlines to increase domestic flight ticket prices by up to 13%. Indonesian Minister of Economic Coordination, Airlangga Hartarto, stated on the 6th that due to the surge in global oil prices caused by the conflict in the Middle East, Indonesia's aviation fuel surcharge will be increased from 10% to 38% of ticket prices. Additionally, domestic flight ticket prices in Indonesia will be generally increased by 9% to 13%. Airlangga mentioned that the government will cover 11% value-added tax for economy class tickets on domestic flights, and provide a monthly subsidy of 1.3 trillion Indonesian rupiah to control the extent of ticket price increases and alleviate the burden on passengers. He stated that the above measures will be reassessed after two months, depending on whether the "conflict in the Middle East persists".
