One immigrant boat capsized in the waters off Libya, leading to the deaths of 2 people and dozens missing.
The Italian rescue organization "Mediterranean Rescue for Humanity" issued a statement on the 5th saying that a wooden boat carrying 105 illegal immigrants, which set off from northwestern Libya, capsized in Libyan waters on the 4th, causing 2 deaths and more than 70 people missing. According to the organization, the accident occurred 14 nautical miles northeast of the Bouri oil platform located north of the coast of Libya. After the accident, two merchant ships participated in the rescue operation, one of which rescued 32 survivors and discovered 2 bodies. The organization said that all survivors landed on the island of Lampedusa in southern Italy on the morning of the 5th aboard a rescue ship, while the whereabouts of the remaining individuals are still unknown.
