German Foreign Minister calls on the EU decision-making process to abolish the principle of unanimity.
German Foreign Minister Waldorf calls on the EU to abandon the principle of unanimous agreement of all member states in order for the EU to "truly grow." In an interview published by the German Funke media group on the 4th, Waldorf proposed abolishing the unanimity principle for decision-making on foreign and security policy before the next European Parliament elections, so that the EU can "act better internationally and truly grow." Regarding the reason for making this proposal, Waldorf said, "In the past few weeks, all our experiences with aid to Ukraine and sanctions against Russia show that this should be done."
