On April 2nd, the State Administration for Market Regulation held an administrative guidance meeting for food delivery platform companies in Beijing, instructing Meituan, Taobao Flash Sale, and JD.com to strictly implement the upcoming "Regulations on the Supervision and Management of Food Safety Responsibility of Online Catering Service Operators", and to strengthen the food safety responsibility of enterprises by taking practical and effective measures to ensure consumer food safety. The meeting pointed out that the rapid development of online catering services has greatly facilitated people's lives, but the accompanying food safety risks cannot be ignored. The central government and the State Council attach great importance to food safety in online catering services. The State Administration for Market Regulation is implementing the decisions and arrangements of the central government, issuing the "Regulations" to ensure that food safety responsibility is placed at the core of business operations for food delivery platform companies, embedding food safety responsibility into every aspect of daily operations, processes, and decision-making to ensure the safety of catering food, and to allow consumers to consume with peace of mind and eat safely. The meeting required food delivery platform companies to strictly comply with legal and regulatory requirements, compare and align with the "Regulations" in detail, and fully implement the platform's food safety responsibility from five aspects: implementing qualification review responsibilities, implementing management guarantee responsibilities, implementing social transparency responsibilities, implementing emergency management responsibilities, and implementing collaborative supervision responsibilities. The meeting emphasized that food delivery platform companies should use the official implementation date of the "Regulations" on June 1st as a deadline, conduct self-inspections and rectifications by comparing with the requirements of the "Regulations", comprehensively review existing systems, processes, personnel, technical support, etc., strictly examine qualification, management, and delivery, strengthen technological empowerment management, proactively integrate into the government regulatory system, shift from "passive response" to "active engagement", promote "Internet + Transparent Kitchen" and encourage food delivery riders to participate in food safety supervision, and build a new pattern of social governance for food safety.
