Australia modifies initial rulings on anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations concerning hot-rolled steel coil from China
According to the news from the China Trade Remedy Information Network, on April 2, 2026, the Anti-Dumping Commission of Australia issued Announcement No. 2026/042, modifying the guarantee deposits determined in the preliminary ruling on anti-dumping and countervailing duties on imported hot rolled steel coils from China as follows: In view of the cessation of the countervailing duty investigation on the exporters Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Shanghai Meishan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., and Hunan Valin Lianyuan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., temporary countervailing duties are not imposed. The temporary anti-dumping duties for the above four exporters are as follows: Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. at 104.1%, Baosteel Zhanjiang Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. at 36.0%, Shanghai Meishan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. at 64.6%, and Hunan Valin Lianyuan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. at 38.9%. The anti-dumping duties and countervailing duties for other Chinese exporters remain unchanged at 116.9%. On November 15, 2024, the Anti-Dumping Commission of Australia issued Announcement No. 2024/093, stating that in response to the application submitted by the Australian domestic company BlueScope Steel Limited, an anti-dumping and countervailing duty investigation was initiated on imported hot rolled steel coils from China. On December 23, 2025, the Anti-Dumping Commission of Australia issued Announcement No. 2025/133, affirming a positive preliminary ruling in the case.
