According to a document submitted to the U.S. Department of Energy, a long-term liquefied natural gas sales agreement between Japan's largest power company JERA and U.S. LNG developer Federal LNG Company was terminated last year. In June of last year, JERA, the largest LNG buyer in Japan, announced that it had signed a 20-year SPA with Federal LNG Company to purchase 1 million tons per year of LNG from their Louisiana project. On April 1st, Federal LNG Company submitted a notice of termination of the agreement. The letter stated that the agreement was terminated on March 3rd, but did not specify the reason. JERA declined to comment, and Federal LNG Company did not immediately comment.
