International oil prices rose sharply on the 2nd. As of the close of the day, the price of light crude oil futures for May delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange rose by $11.42 to $111.54 per barrel, an increase of 11.41%; the price of Brent crude oil futures for June delivery in London rose by $7.87 to $109.03 per barrel, an increase of 7.78%.
