The federal court and the state court of New York announced on April 1 that the trial of the case involving Luigi Mangione would be postponed. Mangione is accused of shooting a high-ranking executive of an insurance company in New York City in December 2024, a case that has garnered widespread attention in the United States. The presiding judge of the federal case, Margaret Gannett, announced that the selection of the jury for the case would be postponed from September 8 to October 5, with the trial date extended to October 26. Gannett stated that this decision was made based on the fact that the state court in New York is scheduled to begin the trial of the Mangione case in June, and if the state court delays its proceedings, the timeline for the federal court trial may change again. According to the Associated Press, the state court in New York is expected to take approximately four to six weeks to try the case.
