Photovoltaic large-scale retirement wave is coming. Enterprises are rushing into the photovoltaic recycling track.
China's photovoltaic installed capacity has been ranked first in the world for several consecutive years. As early photovoltaic components reach their service life, a large-scale retirement wave is approaching. The head of a photovoltaic panel recycling company in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, told reporters that the main profit from photovoltaic panel recycling comes from the sale of recycled materials. Due to fixed dismantling and environmental costs, the larger the scale, the lower the comprehensive cost and the higher the profit margin. An employee explained, "Cost also depends on the scale effect, with a cost of about 600 yuan per ton, and the current gross profit margin is about 20%." It is understood that the photovoltaic panels being dismantled by companies are mainly from defective products from photovoltaic enterprises and panels damaged by natural disasters in photovoltaic power plants. Industry insiders point out that the domestic photovoltaic industry began around 2005. According to the 20 to 25-year design life of the panels, a large-scale retirement wave of photovoltaic equipment will begin in 2026. Many companies have also started to accelerate their layout and further increase their recycling processing scale.
