Goldman Sachs: Short survey shows Japanese companies are not concerned about geopolitical risks.
The short-term survey of the Bank of Japan indicates that Japanese companies may not be too concerned about the impact of geopolitical risks, as the survey was conducted on February 26. Yuriko Tanaka, an economist at Goldman Sachs, said that it is believed that the survey responses have taken into account the impact of the Middle East conflict to a certain extent. She said, "The survey results confirm that even in the case of escalating tensions in the Middle East and rising crude oil prices, the corporate sector has not shown any signs of weakness, and the economic situation is consistent with the Bank of Japan's outlook for a gradual recovery." However, she added that the impact of the escalating events in the Middle East in late March may not have been fully reflected in the short-term survey.
